“Creating a Community with Opportunities for Survivers of Hman Trafficking and Other form of Violence in Nepal”
Nari means woman in Nepali. Nari Alliance (NA) is a social venture business. Our organization is driven to raise the quality of life for women and children who are survivors of domestic violence or human trafficking in Nepal. Our long term goal is to transform the life of women and children in Nepal by building a “community with opportunity” and to sustain the non-profit “Women’s Prevention and Protection Center (WPPC) in Nepal. We value long-term impact over short-term gain and we are determined to achieve our long-term goals that are deeply meaningful to us. Nari Alliance provides job opportunities for women survivors and has as a long-term goal of building a housing program for these survivors.
Objectives:
1) Preventing human trafficking through women’s employment opportunities.
2) Creating hope through global connection and educational exchange.
3) Building a community with opportunities for the survivors
Founders Dream:
My life is not just about me. I strongly believe that I am destined to serve women and children who are survivors of human trafficking and other forms of violence in Nepal. My name is Lila Ghising and I live in Seattle with my family. I was born and raised in Hetauda, a small town in Nepal.I dream of creating a community in Nepal for survivors of human trafficking & other forms of violence. This community will have enough food, jobs for the women, educational opportunities for their children, and be a safe place to live. Also, when the women return to Nepal, the community will welcome them without prejudice.I bring to the table my life and professional experiences on human trafficking and domestic violence. My passion for women and children survivors continues to challenge me to follow my heart and dream. But it has been a daunting process and struggle to determine the perfect solution to address human trafficking in Nepal. As human beings we will never be able to create a perfect solution, but we need to bring the best solution we can. Most of the problems related to human trafficking and violence against women stem from lake of opportunities. Every story we hear about girls trafficking comes across as “to have better life” or “to get a job” or “to get an education.” If the government and humanitarian organizations in Nepal could focus on addressing these needs by providing jobs and create a robust export market it could greatly minimize human trafficking and violence against women and children in Nepal. If we can create one job for a woman that makes $100 a month, she can take care of her children and herself so that she will not be so desperate as to resort to pimps. Providing one job opportunity for one woman could save at least three lives.
